I can still remember how long I struggled to get a Unique Sauger at Emerald. Sometimes it takes for ever to get a certain fish, while others on the same map keep getting them no problem. When I EVENTUALLY get them I'll go back to Quanchkin in the hunt for the Channel. I got all the spots and baits from multiple sources. Croix to get the Unique Blue Cat and Tiger Muskie. I'm having the same struggles with it as you did with the Buffalo. Thanks for the help with the Channel Catfish. I got mine not too long ago (maybe a bit over a month ago). No small ones or trophies first - just a load of bass and then suddenly a uni buffalo. Took me less than 2 hours game time to catch it. He caught it by mistake while fishing for warmouth. I eventually caught it at upside down - near the warmouth spot! Somebody caught one while I was on the map and shared his mark with me. But I didn't get any uniques in 14 days - just a thousand trophies. That's the thing - I've seen the youtube clips as well and I copied everything they did. I've caught probably hundreds of trophies and commons all over the map. My nightmare at Quanchkin is the unique Channel Catfish. I then eventually got one of 9.5Kg (I think on the second in-game day I tried). As a real life carp fisher, I had more confidence in peas or corn.

If you search for 'quanchkin unique smallmouth buffalo' on Youtube, I basically followed the instructions of the first suggestion in the list (don't know if I'm allowed to mention channel names here), except I didn't use bloodworms, but changed to peas. I then eventually got one with peas and a #1/0 hook on a float rig, during peak time in the afternoon (6pm-8pm) on the right hand side of the map (swampy open space). Do not want to contradict what Carpman99 said (he's helped me a LOT with getting uniques, so give it a try) but I also tried with smaller hooks and various baits for a while and couldn't get one.
